Bong Joon-Ho’s debut animated film “Ally” has attracted a slate of international buyers after its launch at the Marche du Film. Neon acquired U.S. rights before Cannes, re-uniting the Oscar-winning director with the distributor that handled “Parasite.” Subsequent deals include I Wonder Pictures (Italy), Plaion (Germany), YouPlanet Pictures (Spain), Madman Entertainment (Australia & New Zealand), The Searchers (Benelux), Pathé Films AG (Switzerland), Monolith Films (Poland), Feelgood Entertainment (Greece), Cinemundo (Portugal), Nachshon Films (Israel), Blitz Film & Video Distribution (Former Yugoslavia), Arthouse Traffic (Ukraine), A-One Films (CIS), Kino Pavasaris Distribution (Baltics), Vertical Entertainment (Eastern Europe, excluding Poland and the Former Yugoslavia), Marhudar Entertainment (Middle East & India), Shinesaeng Ad. Production and Creative Team
The film is financed by CJ ENM, Penture Invest, and Pathé, with production overseen by Barunson C&C and producer Seo Woo-sik. Creative leadership spans twelve countries, featuring animation supervisor Jae Hyung Kim (“Toy Story 4,” “Inside Out”), supervising producer David Lipman (the “Shrek” franchise), production designer Marcin Jakubowski (“Klaus”), and VFX studio DNEG (known for “Inception” and “Dune”). The English-language voice cast includes Ayo Edebiri, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Finn Wolfhard, Rachel House, and Werner Herzog, with Alex Jayne Go voicing the titular piglet squid Ally.
Distribution Territories and Partners
Pathé will distribute “Ally” in France, Benelux, Switzerland, and West Africa. CJ ENM and Penture will handle distribution in South Korea, Vietnam, Turkey, and Indonesia. Additional regional partners listed above will manage releases across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, and select African markets.
Release Schedule
“Ally” is currently in production and slated for a worldwide theatrical release in 2027. No further dates or promotional events have been announced.
