Detroit Pistons Eye Denver Guard Peyton Watson as Free-Agency Target

The Pistons entered the 2025-26 offseason after clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. General manager Trajan Langdon added three-point shooting by trading for guard Isaiah Joe and forward Taurean Prince, and signed veteran forward John Collins to a three-year, $51 million deal following Tobias Harris’s departure. The team hopes to deepen its guard rotation to relieve pressure on franchise point guard Cade Cunningham.

Because the Pistons have not yet finalized a contract with center Jalen Duren, they retain sufficient cap space to pursue Watson. As a restricted free agent, Detroit could extend a qualifying offer that the Nuggets would need to match, or acquire Watson via a sign-and-trade. The Nuggets are expected to fight to retain him, but the Pistons’ financial position makes an offer feasible.
