Nolan Wells’ Death, Investigation and Funeral Draw National Attention

On July 4, 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells and a group of high-school friends set out by boat for Horn Island, a Mississippi Gulf Coast barrier island used for Fourth-of-July celebrations. The friends returned to the mainland that evening; Wells did not. His body was recovered July 6, facedown in the water off Horn Island by a National Park Service agent.
