President Donald Trump traveled to Dover Air Force Base to attend the dignified transfer of four U.S. service members killed in the ongoing conflict with Iran. The ceremony, described as one of the commander-in-chief’s most somber duties, marked the third such transfer Trump has attended since the war began in late February.

• Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Spring Lake, North Carolina – a sergeant killed in Iraq during an Iranian drone detonation, to receive the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Action Badge and promoted to staff sergeant.

In the Oval Office, Trump said the transfer was “a great honor” and emphasized that the fallen were “great patriots” fighting to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. He warned that the United States would continue striking Iran “in honor” of the troops and pledged that each Iranian killing of an American would be repaid “many times over.” An unnamed administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the identities of the service members and noted that the Jordan attacks also involved an unidentified operative whose role in protecting U.S. forces was not clarified.
