2026 US Open Entry List Revealed: Top Seeds, Rankings and Field Composition

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) released the direct-entry lists for the 2026 US Open on Tuesday, basing selections on the July 20 ATP and WTA rankings. The tournament is scheduled to run from Sunday, August 23, through Sunday, September 13, with the Singles Main Draws opening in late August.

Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) tops the women’s field and will attempt to become the first woman since Serena Williams (2012-14) to win three consecutive US Open titles. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner (Italy) leads the men’s draw and seeks to reclaim the title he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 final. Alcaraz, a seven-time Grand Slam champion who missed the last two majors due to a wrist injury, entered the field at No. 3. Other notable entrants include Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Alexander Zverev (Germany), Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), Jessica Pegula (USA), and Coco Gauff (USA). The women’s cutoff rank was No. 102, while the men’s cutoff was No. 101.

The field comprises 128 players per gender. The United States leads all nations with 28 direct entries (14 men, 14 women). In total, 17 former Grand Slam singles champions (11 women, six men) are present, including ten past US Open champions. Eight players (five women, three men) are using special or protected rankings, such as Lois Boisson (women’s No. 38) and Filip Misolic (men’s No. 101). The final women’s entrant was Anastasia Zakharova at No. 102; the final men’s entrant was Misolic, who entered via a protected ranking.

After the entry list is set, the remaining slots will be filled through USTA-awarded wild cards—potentially including Serena Williams if she remains healthy—and qualifying tournaments held the week before the main draw begins. The completed draws will be announced shortly before the tournament’s opening day.
