Burnham Announces Cuts
- Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a 20% business-rates cut for pubs, clubs and live-music venues in England, to start in April 2027.
- Chancellor John Healey said the £100 million annual cost will be funded by ending relief for businesses that do not positively contribute to local communities.
- UK Hospitality chief Allen Simpson noted the cuts aid pubs but leave hotels and restaurants without support.
