Yaga Debuts in TIFF’s Primetime Television Lineup

The supernatural thriller Yaga will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the festival’s Primetime program, which runs September 10–20. The series, starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Hudson Williams, will also be available on the Crave platform in Canada and on AMC+ in the United States.

Yaga is adapted from a stage play by Kat Sandler that reimagines the Slavic myth of Baba Yaga as a contemporary mystery thriller. The television adaptation is directed by Rachel Talalay and David Frazee, with production overseen by Blink49 Studios, Front Street Media, and Bell Media-owned Crave. Supporting cast members include Clark Backo and Noah Reid.

TIFF’s Primetime section showcases a range of international series. It opens with Jesse McKeown’s Netflix drama Below, set in a remote Newfoundland town haunted by a sea creature, and concludes with Mike Flanagan’s re-imagining of Stephen King’s Carrie for Prime Video. Other notable entries include Shawn Ryan’s anthology American Hostage (MGM+), Brad Caleb Kane’s Crystal Lake (Peacock), Apple TV’s Slow Horses, and international titles such as Australia’s 2.6 Seconds: Death in the Outback, France’s Alice, Germany’s Blindspot Berlin, and Brazil’s Oxygen Masks Will (Not) Drop Automatically.

The series benefits from a multi-company collaboration. Bell Media’s Crave provides the primary distribution channel in Canada, while Blink49 Studios and Front Street Media contribute production resources. This partnership aligns Yaga with other high-profile TIFF Primetime selections that are slated for streaming on major platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock, and AMC+.
