7/23/2026, 8:56:49 PM

Acquisition and Distribution Plan

Universal Pictures Content Group and Bleecker Street’s event-cinema division Crosswalk have secured the rights to the concert film “George Michael: The Faith Tour.” Universal will handle international theatrical distribution, while Crosswalk will release the film in North America. The U.S. rollout includes an exclusive early-access partnership with IMAX. The film is slated for a late-2026 worldwide release in premium formats.

Production and Archival Footage

The concert was recorded over two nights at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the 1988 European leg of the Faith Tour. A 14-camera 35 mm shoot captured the performances, which have been restored and edited by longtime Michael collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin. The theatrical presentation opens with an original short, “Finding Faith,” featuring an unheard interview voice-over by Michael and behind-the-scenes material from the “Faith” music video, supplemented by photographs from Herb Ritts.

Official Statements from Distributors and Producers

Mercury Studios’ chief finance and commercial officer Ken Danquah highlighted the “extraordinary craftsmanship” involved in restoring the footage. Lucie Avery, general manager of Globe Originals, called the project an “honor” that “truly honors his timeless legacy.”

Commercial Legacy and Album Tie-In

George Michael, born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, sold more than 100 million albums across a four-decade career. His 1987 debut solo album “Faith” moved over 25 million copies and earned a Grammy. Alongside the theatrical release, George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment will issue “The Faith Tour,” an 18-track live album of previously unreleased recordings from both his Wham! and solo catalogs.
