Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Open Beta Launches with New Character and Upcoming Costumes

7/24/2026, 1:23:25 PM

Marvel Tokon Open Beta Begins

The 4-v-4 tag-team fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls opened its public beta on July 24. The beta runs for three days, ending at 3:59 PM KST on July 27. It is available on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store without prior registration, and pre-loading begins two hours before the start time. No PlayStation Plus subscription is required.

Background and Development

Marvel Tokon is a collaboration between PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games. The title blends Marvel heroes and villains into a 2-D fighting experience with team-based mechanics. Development included a closed beta last year, after which the team incorporated community feedback into the open beta.

New Content Announced

During a San Diego Comic-Con panel, producer Takeshi Yamanaka revealed that Phoenix Cyclops (voiced by Ray Chase) will be the first Year 1 downloadable character. This version draws on the Phoenix Five incarnation from *Avengers vs. X-Men* and combines Cyclops’s optic blasts with the cosmic power of the Phoenix Force.

A collaboration with Insomniac Games adds a Wolverine Battle Reborn Suit, scheduled to become downloadable at no extra cost on September 1. The suit’s design was influenced by a studio visit where Insomniac provided feedback on an in-development build. The game’s Ultimate Edition also includes a costume based on the Advanced Suit 2.0 from *Marvel’s Spider-Man 2*.
