Kade Anderson Tops Keith Law’s Prospect List, Highlighting Seattle’s Pitching Future

Keith Law’s latest ranking of MLB’s top 70 prospects places Seattle Mariners left-hander Kade Anderson at No. 1 overall, with right-hander Ryan Sloan at No. 8. Anderson, drafted third overall in 2025, is a 22-year-old left-hander who posted an 8–1 record, a 1.36 ERA and 108 strikeouts over 72 2/3 innings for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers. He previously won the 2025 College World Series with Louisiana State University and earned Most Outstanding Player honors. Sloan, a 20-year-old drafted 55th overall in 2024, logged a 2–2 record, a 4.04 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings, also at Arkansas.

Anderson’s ascent follows his 28th-place finish in Law’s 2026 top-100 prospect list earlier this year. He is currently ranked fifth overall in MLB.com’s top-100 prospects and is the No. 1 pitching prospect there. Sloan is tied for eighth in MLB.com’s list. The last Mariners player to be the overall No. 1 prospect was Alex Rodríguez in 1995.

Mariners reporter Adam Jude indicated that the club expects to consider calling up both Anderson and Sloan later this summer, though they will remain in Arkansas for the remainder of the season. He added that the focus will shift toward identifying the team’s best 13 pitchers as the season progresses, with those discussions slated for August or September.
