Ravens Release Undrafted QB Diego Pavia to Add Veteran Center Ethan Pocic

The Baltimore Ravens waived rookie quarterback Diego Pavia on Thursday to create a roster spot for veteran center Ethan Pocic, who signed a free-agent contract the same day. Pavia entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent after a standout senior season at Vanderbilt. He was the first Heisman Trophy finalist in 12 years to go undrafted, finishing second among all FBS players with an average of 334.8 total yards per game. He guided Vanderbilt to a 10-3 record—the program’s first double-digit win season—throwing 29 touchdowns, rushing for 10, earning first-team All-American honors, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Pre-draft concerns centered on his age, height (5-foot-10), and off-field decision-making, which contributed to teams passing on him.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Ravens agreed to a one-year deal with Pocic that can reach a maximum of $4.5 million.
