Amazon Prime Settlement Claims Deadline Approaches

7/25/2026, 11:44:14 AM

Settlement Overview and Financial Terms

In September 2025 Amazon entered a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The agreement allocates $1.5 billion to a consumer-refund fund and imposes a $1 billion civil penalty. Amazon did not admit wrongdoing. The FTC alleges the company enrolled consumers in Prime without clear, informed consent and made cancellation difficult. As part of the settlement, Amazon must redesign its enrollment and cancellation flows to provide clearer disclosures and an easier opt-out mechanism.

Who Is Eligible and How to File

Eligibility is limited to U.S. Amazon Prime customers who either signed up through one of the FTC-challenged enrollment flows—or attempted and failed to cancel online—between June 23 2019 and June 23 2025. The challenged flows are the universal Prime decision page, the shipping-selection page, the single-page checkout, and the Prime Video enrollment process.

To qualify, a consumer must have used more than three but fewer than ten Prime benefits during any 12-month period after enrollment and must not have already received an automatic refund. Claimants must confirm that they enrolled unintentionally or were unable to cancel through Amazon’s online system.

Refunds are capped at $51 per eligible customer and may be issued as a check, PayPal, Venmo, or a credit to the Prime membership. Claims must be submitted by July 27 2026 via the official settlement portal — [SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com](https://SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com). Submitting a claim does not guarantee payment.

Official Agency and Company Statements

The FTC states that the settlement will fund consumer refunds and compel Amazon to improve its enrollment disclosures. Amazon’s spokesperson reiterated that the company “agreed to the settlement terms” and will comply with the required process changes, while emphasizing that the company “did not admit any wrongdoing.”

Consumer Guidance and Scam Warning

The FTC warns consumers to beware of scams that request payment to release a refund. Neither the FTC nor Amazon will require any fee for a legitimate settlement payment. Questions about the claims process can be directed to admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com.
