Borno State Governor Hands Over Multi-Million Naira JAMB Zonal Headquarters and CBT Centre

Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum commissioned a state-funded North-East Zonal Headquarters and Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Maiduguri. The facility, built by the Borno State administration, now serves as JAMB’s regional hub for the six North-East states, providing both administrative offices and a dual-hall CBT complex.

The complex occupies a 5,300-square-metre fenced site and includes an administrative block, eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas, 16 convenience facilities, and two waiting areas that together hold 500 candidates. Two CBT halls, each equipped with 275 computers, allow 500 candidates to sit examinations simultaneously and enable the processing of more than 2,000 candidates daily. Built-in registration units are intended to shorten registration and documentation times for applicants from Borno and neighboring states. Power is supplied by a newly installed 300 kVA transformer.

Outgoing JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede described the hand-over as “unprecedented in the board’s history,” noting it is the first instance of a state governor independently constructing a JAMB zonal office and CBT centre. Incoming Registrar Prof. Segun Aina thanked Governor Zulum for the partnership and called for continued collaboration to strengthen JAMB’s operations.
