DeAndre Hopkins Joins Patriots Training Camp in Coaching Capacity

The New England Patriots began their 2026 training camp in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Friday, July 24. Veteran free-agent receiver DeAndre Hopkins arrived with the squad, marking his first day at the camp. Hopkins, who spent the 2025 season with the Baltimore Ravens, is not listed on the active roster.

Head coach Mike Vrabel clarified that Hopkins is participating in a non-playing capacity. The Patriots’ staff indicated that Hopkins will work with the offensive unit and assist the personnel department during the camp.

Patriots officials highlighted a crowded receiver group that includes A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, DeMario “Pop” Douglas and Efton Chism III. The camp update noted Hopkins’ recent production: 17 games, 22 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns with the Ravens, and a career total of 1,006 receptions, 13,295 yards and 85 touchdowns over 13 seasons.

Coaches and players will have the opportunity to learn from Hopkins’ extensive route-running experience. The Patriots’ personnel department expects his insights to inform receiver development and scheme adjustments as the team finalizes its 53-man roster for the upcoming season.
