Chris Evans Talks Marvel’s “Nomad” Pitch and Possible Return as Captain America

At San Diego Comic-Con, Chris Evans told Entertainment Weekly that Marvel Studios has repeatedly pitched him ways to bring Steve Rogers back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He said producers Kevin Feige and Lou D’Esposito invited him to dinner after “Avengers: Endgame” and offered a storyline in which Rogers would adopt the moniker Nomad. Over the next eight years, he says he heard “at least a dozen pitches,” none of which ultimately convinced him.

“Avengers: Endgame” concluded with Rogers traveling to the 1940s to marry Peggy Carter, providing an off-ramp from the franchise. Since then, Evans has been approached about returning, while the MCU has continued expanding with new characters and story arcs. The recent “Avengers: Doomsday” project, slated for a December release, marks the return of both Evans and Robert Downey Jr., though Downey will portray the villain Victor von Doom rather than Tony Stark.
