In a series of precision airstrikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the elimination of several militants across Gaza. The strikes killed Amro Abu Alrish, identified as a Nukhba operative of the Islamic Jihad military wing, and Abd Al-Nasser Al-Aziz Maqadmeh, a Hamas police commander and deputy platoon leader. Additional operations in the central Gaza Strip removed Muhannad Asaad Mahmoud Abu Ghazal, a Hamas Nukhba cell commander linked to the October 7 massacre, as well as Raed Hani Mohammed Al-Amsi, an aerial-surveillance platoon commander, and Nabhan Mohammed Nabhan Al-Amsi, head of Hamas’ Gaza Brigade intelligence desk. The IDF emphasized that precision munitions and aerial surveillance were employed to limit civilian casualties.
Destruction of a Northern Gaza Tunnel Network
On July 27, 2026, the IDF’s Northern Gaza Brigade and Yahalom Unit destroyed a Hamas tunnel network located east of the Yellow Line in an area under Israeli control. The operation also eliminated an additional tunnel route extending several hundred meters. The tunnel demolition followed a joint IDF and Shin Bet strike the previous Sunday that killed Wael Musa Khaled Ladawi, the head of Hamas’s internal security service in central Gaza.
Political Context and International Stabilization Force
The same day the Security Cabinet approved the entry of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) into Gaza, a component of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan. The ISF is slated to begin a pilot program in Rafah focused on reconstruction, while the Board of Peace launched a pilot phase to restore basic services and humanitarian assistance in areas outside Hamas control. The Cabinet also granted the ISF immunity from prosecution.
Casualty Toll and Ongoing Conflict
Gaza health officials have recorded more than 1,190 Palestinian deaths since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire took effect, while four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants during the same period. The IDF maintains that its forces remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations to neutralize perceived threats.
