Kremlin Says No Concrete Peace Proposals Seen Ahead of Trump-Zelenskiy Talks

On July 27, the Kremlin announced that it had not received any specific information about new peace-settlement proposals for Ukraine. The statement came as U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy were scheduled to meet in Washington the following day. A Ukrainian source had earlier said that U.S. and Ukrainian officials were discussing an “air ceasefire” to present to Moscow as part of a fresh round of negotiations.

The same source told Reuters on July 26 that Ukraine had previously offered ceasefire terms to President Vladimir Putin, which were rejected. Some analysts believe that continued Russian losses from Ukrainian drones and missiles could pressure Moscow to reconsider its stance. The proposal, however, remains unverified, and the Kremlin has described the reports as “newspaper reports and nothing more.”

He added that any Russian response would depend on whether a proposal “aligns with Moscow’s interests.” Peskov also noted that Moscow continues to maintain dialogue channels with U.S. negotiators, mentioning the expected visits of envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
