Story summary
  • To safeguard the critically endangered North Atlantic right whales, NOAA Fisheries has implemented voluntary slow zones off the Outer Banks. With only around 360 of these majestic creatures left, vessels over 65 feet must now cruise at a maximum of 10 knots from November 1 to April 30. Operators are equipped with maps and notifications to help prevent tragic collisions.
