Season 4 Premiere and Premise

Apple TV’s latest trailer reveals that “Ted Lasso” returns on August 5 with its titular character, played by Jason Sudeikis, taking on a second-division women’s soccer team in Richmond. The season’s storyline centers on the team’s learning curve—“leap before they look”—as they confront unfamiliar challenges on and off the pitch.

Series Background and Viewership

Since its 2020 debut, the comedy-drama has become a flagship series for Apple TV. Variety notes that the show has accumulated more than 25 billion minutes of global viewing time. Over three seasons it has earned 13 Emmys and 61 nominations, including multiple wins for Sudeikis, Goldstein, Waddingham and Sam Richardson. The series was originally envisioned as a three-season arc, a plan confirmed by both co-creator Sudeikis (to *Entertainment Weekly*) and actor-writer Brett Goldstein (to the *Sunday Times*).

Returning Cast and New Additions

Season 4 reunites Emmy-winner Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. New faces joining the ensemble include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.

Production Leadership

The season is executive-produced by Sudeikis, Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, Bill Wrubel, and Jack Burditt (under a new overall deal with Apple TV). Brett Goldstein serves as writer and executive producer alongside Leann Bowen. Additional writers and producers include Sarah Walker, Phoebe Walsh, Sasha Garron, Julia Lindon, and story editor Dylan Marron. The series continues under Bill Lawrence’s Doozer Productions, with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also credited as executive producers.

Release Schedule

Deadline reports that the first episode will drop worldwide on August 5, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 7. A glitzy premiere event in Los Angeles showcased the returning and new cast members, underscoring Apple TV’s strategic timing shortly after the 2026 World Cup concluded.
