Renewal and Upcoming Production

Acorn TV announced that the Stephen Moyer-led crime drama *Art Detectives* has been commissioned for a second six-episode season plus a two-part special that will debut in December, followed by the full season in 2027. Production began this month in Belfast and across Northern Ireland. The series will continue to follow Detective Inspector (DI) Mick Palmer and DC Shazia Malik as they investigate murders linked to the art and antiques world.

Series Premise and Cast

The show centers on the Heritage Crime Unit, a fictional police team that tackles theft, forgery and homicide involving Old Master paintings, street art, rare antiquities and high-value collectibles. Stephen Moyer returns as DI Mick Palmer, an art-enthusiast detective, while Nina Singh reprises her role as DC Shazia Malik. Larry Lamb also returns as Ron Palmer, Mick’s father, who is serving time in an open prison for handling the stolen Sickert painting recovered at the end of season 1.

Production Details and Funding

*Art Detectives* is produced by Black Dog Television, Dynamic Television and Acorn Media Enterprises, with additional funding from Northern Ireland Screen. Executive producers include creators Dan Gaster, Will Ing and Paul Powell, along with Daniel March, Klaus Zimmermann, Bea Tammer, Catherine Mackin and Stephen Moyer. Candida Julian-Jones serves as series producer and Martin Mahon as producer.
