Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Exits Blue Jays Game with Hamstring Tightness

In an 8–6 loss to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. left the game in the bottom of the fourth inning after experiencing right-hamstring tightness. He was replaced by Kazuma Okamoto. Guerrero recorded two at-bats, grounding into a double play and reaching on an infield single before exiting.

Guerrero, a six-time All-Star, is batting .265 with six home runs and 44 RBIs. He has appeared in 103 of Toronto’s 108 games to date and has logged at least 156 games in each of the past five seasons, underscoring his durability prior to the injury.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider explained that Guerrero felt tightness when he touched first base on his single and turned toward second after an errant throw. He added that Guerrero “checked out pretty good” and would be evaluated the following day.
