Anna Kendrick Leads New MGM+ Thriller “Embassy”

Series Premise and International Rollout

“Embassy” is a six-part action thriller that follows American diplomat Layla (Anna Kendrick) as she confronts armed mercenaries who storm the U.S. embassy in London. The plot pits Layla with a choice between protecting the U.S. ambassador and following orders to extract a high-value asset. She receives reluctant assistance from her former British SAS fiancé, played by Sam Heughan, while J.K. Simmons appears as the ambassador. The series is slated to debut on MGM+ in the United States and will be distributed in Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina. Earlier announcements indicated that Prime Video will carry the show in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia, and New Zealand, with Germany’s ZDF handling local broadcast.

Creative Team and Production Partners

The show was created and written by Rom Lotan, who also serves as an executive producer alongside directors John Strickland and Christian Alvart. Production is a collaboration among AGC Television, Ascendant Fox, and Turbine Studios. Executive producers include Lotan, Strickland, Ascendant Fox’s Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli, Matt Mitchell, Turbine’s Daniel Hetzer, Jakob Neuhausser, Justin Thomson, David Tanner, and AGC’s Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and Miguel A. Palos Jr. AGC International manages worldwide sales. The series was filmed on location in Cologne and London.

Distribution Agreements and Deal Negotiation

MGM+ secured the U.S. rights, while the aforementioned streaming and broadcast partners cover key international markets. The MGM+ agreement was negotiated by Doug Goodkind and Andy Miller on behalf of the network, working with Conor McElroy, AGC’s vice president of legal and business affairs.

Michael Wright, global head of MGM+, described “Embassy” as a high-octane addition to the network’s slate, emphasizing its cinematic quality, strong cast, and the series’ role in positioning MGM+ as a destination for classic storytelling adapted for modern audiences.
