Streaming Release Details

The sequel landed on streaming on Wednesday, July 29. Both Disney+ and Hulu added the film to their catalogs at 3 a.m. Eastern Time (12 a.m. Pacific Time), following the industry practice of releasing new titles at midnight Pacific. An active subscription to either service is required to view the movie.

Box-Office Success and Franchise Milestones

Coverage of the streaming launch reported that the film opened in theaters on May 1 and posted a $233.6 million global opening weekend, including $77 million from the United States. The theatrical run ultimately generated more than $676 million worldwide, pushing the “Devil Wears Prada” franchise past the $1 billion mark.

Plot Continuation and Returning Cast

The story resumes with Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) confronting a declining print-advertising market while Runway’s future hangs in the balance. Former assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) returns as a senior executive at Dior, creating a rivalry for ad revenue as Miranda nears retirement. Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci reprise Andy Sachs and Nigel Kipling, joined by newcomers Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu and Kenneth Branagh. The film also features cameo appearances by fashion icons Donatella Versace, Marc Jacobs and Lady Gaga, who contributed an original song to the soundtrack.

How to Watch

Subscribers can stream the movie instantly on Disney+ or Hulu. No additional purchase is required beyond the standard subscription fee. The early-morning release time means East-coast viewers may access the title before West-coast subscribers, who receive it at midnight Pacific.
