Trump Administration Investigates Gender-Neutral “MyGender” Paper Dolls

Education Secretary Linda McMahon announced that the U.S. Department of Education will investigate whether the Minnesota-based MyGender Dolls could be used in public schools, potentially violating the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment. The dolls are marketed toward school counselors, mental-health providers, pediatricians and other clinicians, and the website describes them as tools for professionals who support trans and gender-diverse children. No release date has been set, but a waiting list is available.

MyGender Dolls were created by researchers at the University of Minnesota. The university told CBS News that no taxpayer money funded the project. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and the state Department of Education both denied any involvement in the dolls’ development and affirmed that the products will not be implemented in K-12 classrooms. The state agency’s statement, as reported by Yahoo News, reiterated that the initiative is university-led and intended solely for licensed professionals.
