NBCUniversal Appoints Christopher Halpin as CFO Ahead of Planned Spin-Off

NBCUniversal announced that Christopher Halpin will assume the role of chief financial officer on September 8. He will report to Mike Cavanagh, co-CEO of Comcast and the designated future CEO of NBCUniversal after the company separates from its parent. Current CFO Randy Culbertson will stay on the leadership team in a new, as-yet-unrevealed position.

Comcast has outlined a plan to spin off NBCUniversal into an independent publicly traded entity, with the separation expected to be finalized by next summer. The move follows a similar strategy previously used for Versant. NBCUniversal’s portfolio includes the Universal film and television studios, the NBC and Telemundo networks, the Peacock streaming service, the Bravo cable network, and the European Sky business.
