The incident follows a similar high-profile leak of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” which also appeared on X and attracted 2.1 million views in two and a half hours before being removed and resulting in the uploader’s suspension. Universal, the distributor of “The Odyssey,” said it learned of the unauthorized posting, activated takedown protocols, and would pursue appropriate remedies to protect its intellectual-property rights.

Despite the piracy breach, “Brand New Day” has generated a record-breaking $72 million in preview ticket sales, surpassing the $60 million earned by “Avengers: Endgame” in its Thursday previews.
