Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap Present “Bobby Beauty Parlour” on YouTube

The coming-of-age short film “Bobby Beauty Parlour” is scheduled to debut at midnight on August 6 on the Oh Short Flips YouTube channel. The 10-minute story follows childhood friends Eelu and Manu as they spend their final afternoon together inside a neighbourhood beauty parlour, drinking, napping and bickering while trying to hold onto a phase of life that is ending.

The film is directed by Shashwat Dwivedi and stars Adrija Sinha, Parul Rana, Saksham Raj and Preeti Kochar. Production is led by Janhavi Asthana—who also co-writes and handles cinematography—alongside Ranjan Singh and Anurag Kashyap, who curates the project for the channel. The pairing of veteran filmmakers Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap marks an unusual collaboration; the two have known each other since their student days in Delhi.

Kashyap framed the piece as a “simple story, simply told” that explores friendship, aspirations and growing up.

Dwivedi expressed gratitude for releasing the film on YouTube, a platform through which he learned much of his filmmaking, and hoped the work would reach a wide audience and prompt viewers to reflect on missed friendships.
