Isaacman Opens Tunnel
- On August 3, 2026, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman opened the Flight Dynamics Research Facility tunnel at Langley, Virginia.
- The 25,000-sq-ft tunnel merges two test tunnels into a 20-ft-diameter, 24-ft-tall section.
- Four 750-hp motors drive 14-ft carbon-fiber fans that reach wind speeds of up to 117 mph, double older tunnels.
- Giovanny Guecha and David Storch said the tunnel’s higher speeds aid Dragonfly parachute testing and will support every future space mission.
