Palantir CEO Alex Karp Warns Enterprises Against Ceding Data to Frontier AI Labs

In an exclusive interview, Palantir Technologies chief executive Alex Karp argued that companies should not be compelled to surrender intellectual property to frontier artificial-intelligence developers. Karp contended that allowing model makers to access proprietary data could undermine profitability, job security, and competitive advantage for businesses, including major government customers. He promoted Palantir’s application-layer approach as a way for firms to keep data in-house while still leveraging AI capabilities.

Karp first publicly attacked OpenAI and Anthropic in early July, targeting their token-based pricing structures. His remarks sparked a broader debate among Silicon Valley leaders and politicians. Tech investor Chamath Palihapitiya later praised Karp on “Squawk Box,” saying the CEO “deserves a medal” for confronting the AI firms.
