Star Wars: Visions – The Ninth Jedi Debuts on Disney+

The first full-length Star Wars anime series, Star Wars: Visions – The Ninth Jedi, is slated to launch on Disney+ on August 5. According to Gizmodo, the series follows apprentice Lah Kara as she trains under Margrave Juro and joins a small fellowship on a quest to rescue her father.

Star Wars: Visions, an anthology of stand-alone animated shorts, has previously explored non-canonical tales in a variety of artistic styles. Two episodes from its first and third seasons introduced the characters and premise that now anchor the new series. By moving from short-form entries to a longer narrative, Lucasfilm and its animation partner Production I.G. aim to deepen the “Visions” universe while offering a fresh entry point for both longtime fans and newcomers.

The project is overseen by a Japanese-led creative team. Kenji Kamiyama serves as supervising director, bringing experience from series such as *Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex*. Shunsuke Tada directs the episodes, while Hitoshi Ito produces the series. The narrative centers on Lah Kara, a Jedi-in-training, and her mentor Margrave Juro, whose small fellowship drives the plot’s self-discovery arc.
