More than three decades ago, Jerry Garcia began sketching a multimedia journey with counter-culture author Ken Kesey and producer Cary Granat. The original concept envisioned an animated film and location-based experience celebrating creativity, community and individual freedom. Today, Granat, multimedia artists, Chicago-based studio Bridgewater, digital studio Starchive and licensing agent Chris McCutcheon are collaborating with Garcia’s youngest daughter Keelin Garcia and his former wife Manasha Garcia to realize the blueprint.
Visitor Experience and Touring Schedule
Guests enter through a portal that recreates San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood as they appeared in 1966. The exhibition unfolds across eight rooms that explore Garcia’s formative years, pioneering sound-technology work, visual art, humanitarian efforts, life philosophies and his passion for scuba diving and ocean conservation. Each visit concludes with an evening performance by rotating Jerry Garcia tribute bands in a state-of-the-art venue. The organizers describe the show as “ever-evolving,” with new archival material added over time. After the San Francisco opening, the production will travel to the four additional U.S. cities, with specific dates and ticket details to be released in the coming months.
