A vegetation wildfire named the Gann Fire ignited near Hogan Dam Road and Gann Road on the southeastern side of New Hogan Lake in Valley Springs, Calaveras County. The blaze was first reported shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026. Cal Fire said the fire moved rapidly uphill through grass and brush; the cause was not disclosed.
