Core Release Details
Indie studio ProbablyMonsters will launch its action-RPG Crimson Moon on September 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The base game is priced at $20, with a Deluxe Edition available for $30 that adds the Ceremonial Armor Set, the Axe of the Gods cosmetic, and a post-launch expansion.
Gameplay and Structure
Players assume the role of a Nephilim—a half-human, half-angel hybrid—tasked with defending the besieged city of Gildenarch. The title blends Soulslike combat precision with a run-based, replayable mission format. Gildenarch is divided into three districts; completing them consecutively triggers a world boss encounter, and defeating all three world bosses unlocks an “extremely difficult” final boss. The game scales for solo play or two-player co-op, ensuring comparable challenge regardless of party size.
Soundtrack Collaboration
The soundtrack is a joint effort by composer Chris Wilson, music manager Steve Pardo, and the metal collective HEALTH. Additional original tracks for boss fights feature Ricky Armellino of Ice Nine Kills, Misha Mansoor of Periphery, and metal YouTuber Jared Dines.
Official Statements & Responses
Ricky Armellino described his involvement as an honor and highlighted the blend of gothic, classical, and heavy-metal elements.
