International Sales Launch at Busan

Abnormal Studios, a subsidiary of Westec Media Limited, will present the worldwide sales slate for *Ali & Ben’s Spicy Meats* at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan this October. The film, a Malaysian black comedy-horror about two friends who stumble on a spicy beef jerky recipe that uses human flesh, is being positioned for distribution across Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Mongolia and Nepal.

Filmmakers and Creative Team

The picture is the ninth independent feature from sibling filmmakers Iskander and Feisal Azizuddin, who operate under the banner Feisk Productions. Their previous work includes the drama *Angkat* (premiered at the 2024 Blue Chair Film Festival in Luang Prabang, Laos), the psychological thriller *Tafakur*, the period piece *This Land of Mine* and the horror film *Kabus*. Hand-drawn illustrations by Gladys Lee and Qistina Ishak are integrated throughout as visual storytelling elements.

Production and Cast

Lead actor Amir Nafis—one of Malaysia’s better-known screen performers—heads a cast that also features Syazani Zikry and Bella Imani. The film pushes beyond the restraint typical of mainstream Malaysian cinema, employing explicit violence, sexuality and dark humor as deliberate formal choices rather than mere shock tactics.

Official Statement

Feisal Azizuddin, co-director of Variety and one of the film’s creators, explained the thematic intent:

“I wanted to tell a story that explores how desperation warps ordinary people, and how ambition often wears a friendly face, and that we are another person’s dish in this complex, twisted society we live in.” — Variety Co-director Feisal Azizuddin

Market Reach and Industry Context

Abnormal Studios handles roughly 100 titles annually, giving the studio a broad platform for independent Southeast Asian content. By securing worldwide sales for *Ali & Ben’s Spicy Meats*, the company signals a growing appetite for transgressive, genre-blending cinema that challenges local storytelling conventions while aiming for international audiences.
