Grass-roots climate activist William Lawrence secured the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s 7th congressional district, defeating former U.S. ambassador Bridget Brink and former Navy SEAL Matt Maasdam. Lawrence, a co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, ran on a platform that includes a moratorium on AI datacenter construction, higher taxes on billionaires, universal health care, and ending U.S. arms sales to Israel.
