75-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized After Attack by Her Own Dogs in Valley Stream

On Wednesday afternoon, police were called to a residence on East Avenue in Valley Stream, New York, after a 75-year-old woman was mauled by her two pit-bull-mix dogs. Responding officers found the woman on the front lawn with multiple lacerations. She was transported to a hospital and, according to emergency reports, remained in stable condition.

Nassau County police confirmed they arrived shortly before 5 p.m. and secured the scene. The Town of Hempstead Animal Control subsequently removed both dogs from the property. Officials indicated the animals were taken into custody pending further investigation. The mail carrier who had been delivering mail earlier was reported to be unharmed but expressed concern for the victim’s health.

Several neighbors who witnessed the incident described a violent episode. One resident, Frida Molines-Valme, said the dogs first attacked the mail carrier before turning on the woman as she attempted to retrieve the mail. She added that the animals “would not let go” and that bystanders tried to intervene by striking the dogs with a broom, yelling, and throwing water.
