New York City’s LIFT Tracker Highlights Fast-Tracked Affordable-Housing Projects

Eight months later the administration broke ground on two flagship developments. On August 3, Mamdani addressed the press at the Casanova Residence ceremony in the Bronx, unveiling a 96-unit, 100 % affordable complex that includes 58 units for people with a history of homelessness, on-site case management, financial-literacy training, legal referrals, free broadband, laundry, a fitness center, and community spaces. In May 2026, Deputy Mayor Leila Bozorg highlighted The Orion project in Hunter’s Point South, Queens—a mixed-use site slated to deliver roughly 1,000 homes, 650 of them income-restricted, together with a daycare, workforce-development support, an indoor pool, and retail space.

The mayor’s office estimates the LIFT program will ultimately use more than 100 city-owned sites to create about 50,000 new affordable homes over the next decade, complementing the broader “Block by Block” plan to reach 200,000 affordable units citywide. A recently adopted budget earmarks a historic $22 billion for affordable housing over five years, including $5 billion in capital funding for the next two years.
