History

Historical Context

After the Trinity test on 16 July 1945, the Allies issued the Potsdam Declaration (26 July) and Japan rejected it, leading to the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August 1945. Nagasaki’s rebuild followed the 1949 Reconstruction Law and its sites were protected in 2016.
