Brooks Koepka Calls First PGA Tour Season Back “Pathetic” After Missing Playoffs

Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka expressed disappointment after failing to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs in his first season back on the PGA Tour. Playing the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, he posted an even-par 70 in the final round and finished tied for 68th at three under par. The result leaves him projected near 94th in the FedEx Cup standings, well outside the top-70 cutoff for the upcoming FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Koepka’s season statistics highlight a stark contrast between his ball-striking and putting. While his approach-shot ranking was eighth on the tour, his putting placed him 116th, costing him roughly 2.5 strokes per round on the greens. Over the 72-hole tournament he ranked 68th in strokes-gained on the greens. The season produced only one top-10 finish—a tie for ninth at the Cognizant Classic during the March Florida Swing—and five missed cuts in fifteen starts.

Under the PGA Tour’s Returning Member Program, Koepka forfeited any player-equity shares for five years and is ineligible for the $100 million FedEx Cup bonus slated for 2026. At the Tour’s request, he also committed a $5 million charitable donation as part of his reinstatement.

Looking ahead, Koepka indicated he will compete in a few European events and may add select tournaments from the PGA Tour’s fall schedule.
