Melissa Barrera Says She Was Fired From “Scream” Over Pro-Palestinian Posts

Producers at Spyglass Media announced that Melissa Barrera would not return to future installments of the “Scream” franchise. Barrera had headlined the 2022 series revival and its 2023 sequel, “Scream VI,” before the announcement.

After leaving “Scream,” Barrera debuted on Broadway in the musical “Titanique,” which is midway through its run at the St. James Theatre and earned four Tony Award nominations. She is also an executive producer of the documentary *Traces of Home*, following a Mexican-Palestinian family and slated for distribution by Watermelon Pictures. Upcoming acting projects include “Your Monster” (2024), “Abigail” (2024), “The Copenhagen Test” (2025), and co-starring roles in “The Collaboration” and “Black Tides.”
