Maxx Crosby Claims He Urged Raiders to Draft Jalen Carter

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected defensive tackle Jalen Carter with the No. 9 overall pick, while the Las Vegas Raiders chose defensive end Tyree Wilson at No. 7. Carter’s rookie season earned him second place in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting and consecutive Pro-Bowl selections. Earlier this offseason he secured a four-year, $152 million extension with the Eagles, and he was voted No. 29 on the 2026 NFL Top 100 list compiled by active players.

Raiders pass-rusher Maxx Crosby said he spent the draft “begging and pleading” for the Raiders to take Carter. Crosby explained that former interim defensive coordinator and defensive-line coach Rod Marinelli called him every day, urging him to advocate for Carter and to “make sure they’re getting Jalen.”
