Apple TV+ Orders Horror Thriller “Ascension” Starring Caitríona Balfe

Apple TV+ has ordered the one-hour psychological horror series “Ascension,” created by Oscar-winner Alfonso Cuarón. The show will star Caitríona Balfe—returning to television after *Outlander*—who also serves as an executive producer. It follows Rose, a divorced documentary filmmaker who investigates the 20th-century cult Church of Ascension and uncovers a darker reality.

Development began in 2017, when Casey Affleck was initially attached.
