Suno Introduces Tiered Download Caps for Its AI Music Generator

Suno disclosed that, beginning in September, it will impose download caps on all songs stored in a user’s library. Free-tier accounts will be restricted to seven total downloads, the $8-a-month Pro plan to 20 downloads per month, and the $24-a-month Premier tier to 60 downloads per month. Users of Suno Studio, which provides the “Studio” production suite, will face no download limits and can purchase additional downloads if they exceed their tier’s allowance.

The caps follow Suno’s settlement with Warner Music Group last year over a copyright-infringement lawsuit. Similar restrictions were adopted by competitor Udio after its own settlement with Universal Music Group. Streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music have also publicly addressed the surge of AI-generated tracks that appear in their catalogs, citing concerns about unauthorized uploads and system manipulation.
