Damon Wayans Returns to Share the Screen with David Alan Grier in “St. Denis Medical” Season 3 Premiere

Damon Wayans is set to appear as Dr. Highland in the season-three premiere of the NBC mock-documentary “St. Denis Medical.” The character is described as a “charming but pompous” physician who temporarily fills in while Ron, played by David Alan Grier, recovers from surgery. Their on-screen reunion marks the first collaboration of the two actors since their time together on the sketch-comedy series “In Living Color.”

Both Wayans and Grier broke out as cast members on “In Living Color,” which aired on Fox from 1990 to 1994 and was created by Keenen Ivory Wayans. After the show’s run, the pair later reunited on the short-lived Fox series “Damon” (1998) and have occasionally appeared together in other venues, including a 2025 NAACP Image Awards stage performance that honored the Wayans family.

The ensemble for “St. Denis Medical” is led by Allison Tolman (Alex) and includes Wendi McLendon-Covey (Joyce), Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper, and Kaliko Kauahi. The series was created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, with Ledgin serving as showrunner. Executive producers also include Simon Heuer, Bridget Kyle, and Vicky Luu. Production companies are More Bees, Inc. and Spitzer Holding Company, while Universal Television (a division of Universal Studio Group) provides studio support.
