Cancellation of the Wynn Shows
Morrissey’s four-night residency at the Encore Theater in the Wynn Las Vegas complex was called off a week before the first performance. The shows had been slated for August 14, 15, 18 and 19, but an email to ticket holders cited “unforeseen logistical issues” as the reason for the cancellation. Wynn Las Vegas subsequently removed the dates from its entertainment listings, and Ticketmaster marked the events as canceled by the organizer.
Official Explanation
In a statement posted on his website, Morrissey asserted that the cancellation was beyond his control and emphasized that he does not cancel Las Vegas engagements. The wording of the statement mirrors language used in earlier communications about the same issue.
Pattern of Cancellations
Morrissey’s track record of missed engagements is extensive. Pastemagazine noted that he has canceled or postponed 221 appearances since 2012. Ticketnews added that the artist has a history of cancellations, tallying over 200 cancellations in that period. Wikimetal reported that Rolling Stone documented 22 show cancellations in 2025 alone, along with ten postponements, and listed numerous cancellations earlier in 2024 across the United States, the Dominican Republic, Spain and Latin America for reasons ranging from illness to exhaustion.
Upcoming Performances
Despite the Las Vegas setback, Morrissey’s U.S. itinerary remains intact. He is scheduled to appear at Chicago’s Riot Fest on September 19, followed by a series of dates through November in cities such as Washington, D.C., Fort Worth, Tempe and Nashville, as well as festival slots at Brooklyn’s CBGB Festival and Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach. After the U.S. leg, he will travel to Europe and the United Kingdom to promote his 14th studio album, *Make-Up Is a Lie*, released earlier this year.
Recent Concert Activity
The artist’s most recent live appearance occurred on August 1 in Portugal, according to Wikimetal. The cancellation follows a July 9 no-show in Warsaw, which was the last of a series of missed engagements earlier in the year.
