Tedros Warns Ebola
- WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo could eclipse the 2014-2016 West African epidemic.
- The DRC health ministry reports 4,294 cases and 1,960 deaths, with 60%-70% of new infections occurring outside contacts as cases double in hotspots.
- Unpaid health workers have struck, slowing the response in eastern Congo where more than two-thirds of deaths occur in communities, UNICEF’s John Agbor noted.
