Fatal Biker Gang Brawl Claims Life in South Wales Valleys

A 56-year-old man, Anthony “Tony” Jones of Brecon, died in hospital after a violent confrontation between rival motorcycle gangs in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, last Thursday evening. The melee involved knives and hammers and drew at least a dozen participants. Three people were taken to hospital, one in critical condition, while police reported that ten men aged 31 to 73 were arrested, seven of whom remain in custody.

Gwent police deployed firearms officers, a police helicopter and ambulances to the scene, and a forensic cordon remains outside the British Legion Club where the fight occurred. Investigators are searching for a 40-year-old man, Anthony Paul Jones of Blaenavon, Torfaen, who has not yet come forward, and for a blue Ford Transit van bearing the registration MA23 FLC. Torfaen council warned that nearby Hospital Road could stay closed into the weekend while the investigation continues.
