Disney Live Action to Adapt Korean Bestseller *The Dallergut Dream Department Store*

Disney Live Action is developing a live-action feature based on *The Dallergut Dream Department Store*, the first novel in a Korean fantasy trilogy by author Miye Lee. The screenplay will be written by Patrick Ness, known for adapting his own novels *A Monster Calls* and the *Chaos Walking* series for film. Executive Vice President of Production Jessica Virtue is overseeing the adaptation for Disney Live Action.

Lee’s novel follows Penny, a young woman who secures a job selling dreams at the titular department store, only to confront dangerous mysteries that threaten the sleeping clientele. The book was a No. 1 bestseller in Korea and, according to the producers’ synopsis, has sold more than 2 million copies across over 20 territories. Its international popularity provides Disney with an established fan base before the film reaches theaters or streaming platforms.
