II Album Announcement

Hip-hop veteran Denzel Curry and producer Kenny Beats—now credited as Kenneth Blume—have announced a new joint album titled II. The record follows their 2020 collaboration *Unlocked* and is slated for release on August 21 through Loma Vista Records. The lead single “Difference,” featuring vocalist Yebba, has already been issued alongside a retro-styled video.

Background and Prior Work

*Curry* and *Beats* first teamed up for *Unlocked*, a three-day studio project that emerged from Curry’s appearance on Beats’ former YouTube series “The Cave.” After the duo’s initial success, Beats rebranded as Kenneth Blume and continued producing for acts such as Geese, Weezer, Show Me The Body, and Trash Talk. Earlier this year, Curry launched the underground rap collective the Scythe and released the group album *Strictly 4 The Scythe*. He is also set to tour with recent collaborators Knocked Loose and has hinted at a possible shift toward hardcore influences.

Production Choices and Guest Artists

According to the album’s promotional materials, Curry and Blume experienced “big fights” during the making of *II* and ultimately opted for a stripped-down approach, recording with only an SP-404 sampler and a low-budget microphone. The project features guest verses from JPEGMAFIA and Westside Gunn, while Yebba provides the hook on the closing track “Difference.” The full tracklist includes nine songs: “Gone Fishing,” “Evil Grin” (feat. JPEGMAFIA), “Candlelight,” “Product,” “UPS,” “Benjamin,” “Cold Night in Hell,” “Crown” (feat. Westside Gunn), and “Difference” (feat. Yebba).

Official Statements & Release Details

The album’s release on August 21 will be accompanied by the “Difference” video, which employs a VHS-style split-screen aesthetic to highlight the duo’s early days.
