George Finch became the youngest leader of a UK county council when he was elected to head Warwickshire at 19 and secured a second leadership role in Nuneaton and Bedworth at 20. His minority Reform administration has faced three code-of-conduct investigations, a no-confidence motion that he survived by a single vote, and a series of public spats. In June, Finch said he had received “a number” of complaints that libraries were “promoting contested gender ideology,” prompting Warwickshire Pride to issue a statement and a new misconduct probe. A separate solicitor-led inquiry found he had breached conduct rules by publishing material that could have jeopardised the trial of Ahmad Mulakhil, later convicted of kidnapping and rape.
